Welcome to the Bruichladdich Academy Online Booking.
The 2007 Academy season begins on March 5th and runs until October 2007. The cost is £795. The Academy is closed between July 23rd until August 20th.
You are required to read the Terms and Conditions below before proceeding with an Academy Booking
The Academy Terms & Conditions
(The boring but important stuff)
Contract
The contract is with you/the guest (the Guest) and the Bruichladdich Distillery Company Limited (BDCL). These terms and conditions are governed by and constructed in accordance with Scots law and BDCL and the Guest agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish Courts.
Payment
BDCL will accept your booking upon payment to it of a non-refundable deposit of £300 per Guest (Booking Fee) for enrolment in The Bruichladdich Academy of Islay Single Malt (BAISM). The payment of the Booking Fee does not in itself create a binding contract between the Guest and BDCL. The remainder of the course fee (£495 Sterling - the Course Fee) will be charged 2 months prior to the start of the course booked. Failure to pay the Course Fee by this time will result in cancellation of the reservation and the loss of the Booking Fee paid.
Disclaimer
BDCL will endeavour to provide the Guest with the opportunity to experience each of the disciplines set out in the BAISM agenda (the Agenda), but BDCL reserves the right to change the personnel involved, the timings, and tasks in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
The program of events and their timings are for guidance only and are liable to change owing to certain weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
Any partner brought by a Guest will be responsible for their own daily routine outside of BDCLs premises and will not be able to take part in the BAISM program except for meals and evening entertainment.
The extent of the BAISM subject matter is set out in the Agenda, but may be further adapted by BDCL at short notice.
The BAISM is not an accredited academic institution. Nor is it governed by any education authority, or affiliated to any other authority. It is part of the independent distillery of Bruichladdich, which by using local experts, as well as distillery staff, will impart independent knowledge to Guests about the production and maturation of single malt whisky by way of practical experience and informal talks.
BDCL will be delighted to help in recommending to the Guest any additional accommodation and travel but booking and payment (and any refunds) will be the sole responsibility of the Guest.
Each Guest will have the opportunity to taste single malt whiskies. Any irresponsible or antisocial behaviour as determined by the distillery manager will result in instant removal from the course and premises without reimbursement of any fees paid.
Safety
BDCL shall acquaint all Guests and their partners with all safety, fire and evacuation procedures and the Guest agrees to abide by these procedures and to procure that their partners abide by such procedures.
Liability:
Guests will be responsible for their own property at all times. BDCL does not accept responsibility for the loss or damage to any property brought onto any of its premises by the Guest or any person accompanying the Guest. BDCL excludes liability to the fullest extent permitted by law for death or personal injury except in respect of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of BDCL.
Bruichladdich is a working distillery on the Island of Islay on Scotlands west coast and subject to Customs & Excise rules and regulations. As such you will be required to sign a disclaimer document and abide by the rules set out within before you are able to participate in the weeks program and shadowing of the distillery workforce.
Cancellation:
In the event of an extended summer 'silent season' over and above that already indicated in the reservations, then a rebate of 100% will apply for a visit that has to be cancelled as a result. If BDCL is unable to provide to the Guest in their respective week the opportunity of practical experience of both distilling and mashing then a 40% refund on the EX VAT base Course Fee will apply. A 20% discount will apply if either a distilling or a mashing practical opportunity is unavailable during the week.
The weather can be variable and cause disruption to travel plans, and programs of planned events. BDCL is not liable for any disrupted travel plans or costs incurred as a result or any further disruption to travel connections that may arise. BDCL advises the Guest to take out the appropriate comprehensive travel insurance.
Thank You.
Distillery Destinations would be able to organise other distillery visits on the mainland should you wish to extend your visit in Scotland.
